Hartford, Conn., Mar. 25 – Trinity College Head Coach John Dunham was named as the 2002-03 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men’s Ice Hockey Coach of the Year. Bantam sophomore Doug Kisielius (Park Ridge, Ill.) was selected to the 2002-03 All-NESCAC First Team and the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Second Team, while classmate Joseph Ori (Niles, Ill.) graced the All-NESCAC Second Team. |

Dunham was also chosen as a finalist for the AHCA National Coach of the Year Award. The winner of that award will be selected at the annual AHCA Coach of the Year banquet in Naples, Fla. on April 26.
Trinity finished the 2002-03 season with a 19-6-2 overall record and posted a best ever, 15-3-1 mark in the league to finish second in the conference. The Bantams downed Williams and Colby in 3-2, overtime games and bested top-seeded Middlebury, 4-2, in Vermont to capture its first NESCAC Championship title. Trinity qualified for its first ever NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, losing at Norwich, 5-4, in the quarterfinal round.
Dunham started the Trinity men’s ice hockey program as a club team in 1970 and has served as its head coach since its first varsity season in 1974. Dunham has compiled a 383-270-24 record in his 29 seasons with 17 post-season appearances, eight Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship titles, three NESCAC Championship Tournament appearances, one NESCAC Championship title, and one NCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearance. He was also the NESCAC Coach of the Year in 2000-01.
Kisielius logged 1553 minutes (new Trinity record, 1st in NESCAC) in goal this season with a 19-6-1 record (.750 winning percentage was 3rd in NESCAC, 15th in nation), totaling 676 saves (3rd in NESCAC) for a .912 save percentage (3rd in NESCAC, 16th in nation), a 2.51 GAA (3rd in NESCAC, 19th in nation), and five shutouts. The NESCAC Player of the Week twice and United States College Hockey Online (USCHO.com) Defensive Player of the Week twice this season, Kisielius maintained a 223 minute scoreless streak that included shutouts of New England College, Wesleyan, and St. Michael’s, as well as a 5-3 win over previously-undefeated and then-No. 1 ranked Norwich.
Ori played in all 27 games at forward, leading Trinity in scoring with 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points. The NESCAC Player of the Week twice this season, he scored the game-winning goal five times this season.
