The
College Launches $350-Million Campaign
Trinity College
announced the public launching of a $350-million fundraising
initiative, the largest in the College’s history and one of
the most ambitious of any liberal arts college in the
country.

Reverend Allison Read is Named New Trinity College Chaplain
The College announced
the appointment of The Reverend Allison Read as College
chaplain. Read comes to Trinity from Christ Church in Short
Hills, New Jersey, where she was priest-in-charge. Read an
interview with Allison Read in the winter issue of the
Trinity Reporter.

Masur Delivers the Annual Shirley G. Wassong Memorial
Lecture: “Race and Boston: The Story of a Photograph that
Shocked America”
Masur, the William R.
Kenan, Jr., Professor of American Institutions and Values,
lectured on material from his forthcoming book, The Soiling
of Old Glory: The Story of a Photograph that Shocked America
(2008), a “biography of a photograph” that captured racial
strife in Boston in the 1970s. Masur was also the cover
story on the November 23 issue of the Chronicle of Higher
Education.
Students
Perform Week 51 of Suzan-Lori Parks Year-Long Theatrical
Production
Trinity students will be
performing week 51 of 52 weeks’ worth of plays by
award-winning playwright, Suzan-Lori Parks. Parks began
writing a series of plays on November 13, 2002, and finished
them one year later. The resulting play cycle, called 365
Days/365Plays, is a daily meditation on an artistic life.

Participates in Power Shift 2007, the First-Ever National
Youth Summit on Global Warming
November 2-5, Trinity sent more
than 50 students to the University of Maryland for Power
Shift 2007, the first-ever national youth summit on global
warming.
Celebration of Literacy and Partnerships at Trinity College
“Building a Community of
Readers,” an event celebrating literacy and local volunteers
making a difference in Hartford through literacy outreach,
brought more than 100 members of the community to Trinity on
November 29. The event was sponsored by ConnectiKids, the
Greater Hartford Literacy Council, and Trinity, with support
from the Aetna Foundation.
Trinity College Chapel Lessons and Carols
Now in its 49th year, the
Service of Lessons and Carols for Christmas will be held at
the Chapel of Trinity College on Sunday, December 9, at two
identical services, at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The public is
welcome to attend.

BAM
The Alumni Association launched
Trinity's Bantam Alumni Mentoring network or BAM which will
enable students and alumni to be in direct contact regarding
professional mentoring and career advice. This is a project
that both the Alumni Relations Office and the Career
Services Office are pleased to offer.
BAM will allow Trinity alumni and students to search the
online database by class year, profession, location or other
areas of interest. The goal is to facilitate direct contact
among network members to exchange advice and information
regarding inquiries on careers, internships, and new
opportunities.

Winter
Sports Viewed Live Via Webcasts
The Trinity winter sports season is well under way and the
Bantams teams are all off to fast starts. Several upcoming
Trinity basketball and hockey games in the month of December
will be Webcast live on

WOver Homecoming Weekend, members of the Board of Fellows took part in a hard-hat tour of the historic restoration and renovation of the Long Walk buildings. Ronald V. Waters ’74, P’06 and his wife Ann C. Waters P’06 recently made a $500,000 commitment to the project. Their gift will be recognized with the renaming of the Seabury 16 seminar room, which will become the Waters Family Classroom.

assume the role of Trinity College chaplain in January 2008. She
is the College’s eighth chaplain and the second woman to serve
in that capacity.
