New Dean of Center for Urban and Global Studies to Join Trinity August 1
Dr. Xiangming Chen
has been named as Trinity’s first dean and director of the Center for Urban and Global Studies and the Paul E. Raether Distinguished Professor in Sociology and International Studies.
Professor Anne Lambright
Awarded Grant to Study Cultural Impact of Terrorism
Lambright has won a grant from the
Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation to study how
years of sustained terrorism have affected the culture of
Peru. An associate professor of modern languages and
literature, she is one of five scholars to receive a 2007
Millicent C. McIntosh Fellowship.
Dan Lloyd, Professor of Philosophy, Awarded Fulbright Scholar Grant
Lloyd will use his Fulbright grant to research
ways of interpreting the structure and function of the human
brain at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies, the Finnish national research center, during the 2007-2008 academic year.
Three Recent
Graduates Begin Fulbright Year
Three members of the Class of ’07 have won Fulbright Fellowships. Katie Gordon, of Haverford, PA; Caitlin Schiller, of West Hartford, CT; and Laurence Tooth, of Midway, KY, will teach
the English language in Argentina, Spain, and Germany, respectively, under the subsidiary program, Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA).
Class of 2008 Student Wins Competitive Beinecke Scholarship
Joseph Ricci ’08, of Springfield, MA, has been selected as one of 20 recipients to receive the prestigious Beinecke Scholarship.

Trinity Mourns Lisa Nestor, Senior Lecturer in Chemistry
Nestor, a beloved member of the Chemistry Department, passed
away on July 5 after a recurrence of cancer struck her in
the spring.

Ward Curran Receives College’s Highest Alumni Honor
Over the 2007 Reunion Weekend, Class of 1957 alumnus and
Trinity professor Ward S. Curran received the Eigenbrodt Cup
Award—the highest and most prestigious alumni award the
College can bestow.
Boston-area Alumni Gather at Fenway Park
Over 70 alumni and parents attended a panel discussion in the Third-Base Deck of Fenway Park with Tom DiBenedetto ’71, part-owner of the Red Sox; Sam Kennedy ’95, vice president for Red Sox corporate affairs; Joseph Monahan ’93, executive vice president for Fenway Sports Group; and Tony Massarotti, sports writer for the
Boston Herald.
Jay Williamson ’89 Finishes Second in PGA Tour’s Travelers
Championship
Williamson overcame a driver problem to record his best
finish ever on the PGA Tour in Cromwell, CT, in June.
