Awards and Honors
Laura DaRos, program coordinator for
student activities, won the Region 1 (New England) M. Kevin Fahey
Graduate Assistant Award at the National Association of Campus
Activities conference. The award is given to a graduate student who
has made significant contributions to his or her institution and who
serves as a role model for student leaders on campus.
“Nerves of the Heart,” the fifth novel by
Writer-in-Residence Lucy Ferriss, was nominated for a 2003
Connecticut Book Award. The awards, now in their second year, are
presented in seven categories by the Connecticut Center for the Book
at Hartford Public Library.
Barbara Henriques, visiting
assistant professor and acting director of educational studies, was
honored for her service by the Southside Institutions Neighborhood
Alliance at its 13th annual Neighborhood Service Awards ceremony.
Henriques was recognized for her advocacy work on behalf of several
educational programs in the city. She was also praised for assisting
with The Saturday Academy, a ten-week academic enrichment program for
seventh and eighth graders on Trinity’s campus.
