Awards & Honors

Berel Lang, visiting professor of philosophy, has been awarded a Lady Davis Faculty Fellowship at Hebrew University in Jerusalem for the spring and summer terms in 2005. Lang, who has written about the Holocaust, will be working on a project titled “Minorities in a Majority World: From Genocide to Group Rights.”

Chris Lyons, associate director of campus safety, received a Neighborhood Service Award from the Southside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance in recognition of his outstanding service to the community. The award was presented by Dave Winer, associate professor of psychology and dean of students, emeritus, during a November 10 ceremony at the Vernon Social Center.

Trinity’s P.R.I.D.E. (Promoting Respect for Inclusive Diversity in Education) program has been selected as the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators’ program of the year. Programs are selected based on their innovation, creativity, contribution to student or professional development, and timeliness.

Robin Sheppard, associate director of athletics, was inducted into the Southern New Jersey All Sports Museum Hall of Fame during a November 6 ceremony. A graduate Bridgeton (New Jersey) High School and Trenton State College, Sheppard won more than 200 games as Trinity field hockey and women’s lacrosse coach and twice took the Bantams to the field hockey Final Four.

Kevin Sullivan, vice president for community and institutional relations, was named Person of the Year by the Trinity Club of Hartford. The award is presented by the Club to a graduate of the College who has given outstanding service to the community or to the College. He or she must have graduated within the past 35 years and reside within the Hartford area.
