Anne Parmenter Inducted Into Connecticut Field Hockey Hall of Fame
Head field
hockey coach Anne Parmenter was one of nine 2003 inductees into
the Connecticut Field Hockey Hall of Fame. Parmenter was honored at
the Hall of Fame’s annual dinner and induction ceremony on September 7
at the Aqua Turf Country Club in Southington.
Parmenter has
coached field hockey at Trinity and at Connecticut College for 16-plus
seasons, compiling a 110-117-3 overall record and leading her field
hockey squads to six ECAC Division III New England Championship
appearances. She also serves as assistant women’s lacrosse coach at
Trinity, after a successful, 14-year stint as head women’s lacrosse
coach and assistant athletic director at Connecticut College. An
accomplished field hockey player herself, Parmenter played in the
National Festival for 13 years and played in the World Cup with the
British National Club Championship Team.
Parmenter notes
that the award dinner presented a wonderful chance to catch up with
former colleagues and teammates. Of the tribute, she says, “This is a
great honor, particularly the year after [Associate Athletic Director]
Robin Sheppard was given the award. It’s very unusual for a school to
have someone receive this acknowledgment two years in a row, and it’s
nice to follow in Robin’s footsteps.”
