Bantam Women Place
Second, Men Finish Sixth
Senior captain Christina Kane won the 6,000-meter women’s race with a
time of 22:47.57 to lead the Bantams to a second-place finish in the
University of Southern Maine Women’s Cross Country Invitational in
Cumberland, Maine. The men’s squad finished sixth, behind a 22nd-place
performance by freshman Matt Anderson at 27:54.
Trinity finished with 68 points in the women’s race, 16 behind
first-place Tufts and 37 ahead of third-place Wheaton. The Bantam men
totaled 171 points to edge seventh-place Springfield by two.
Kane finished 17 seconds ahead of Trinity sophomore Kristina Miner who
came in third place, while junior Jackie Kupper finished 13th at 23:56
and junior Haley McConaghy was 21st with a time of 24:35. Freshman
Jose Guzman was 25th at 28:10 for the Bantam men.

Bantams Finish Tied For Seventh in Championship Tourney

Senior Diana Dreyfus
and freshman Brenna Driscoll advanced to the semifinals in No. 1 and
No. 3 singles flights, respectively, to lead Trinity to a seventh
place finish at the New England Division III Women’s Tennis
Championships at Amherst College. The Bantams finished with 13 points,
tying Brandeis in seventh place in the team standings. Middlebury won
the tournament with 37 points.
Dreyfus upset the No. 2 seed from Middlebury (6-3, 6-1) in the second
round and her quarterfinal opponent from Brandeis (7-5, 6-3) to
advance to the semis. Driscoll, seeded No. 4, downed opponents from
Babson and Williams before falling to the eventual champion from
Middlebury.
Trinity senior co-captain Brittany Olwine won two matches to reach the
quarterfinals of the No. 2 singles flight, while the tandems of
Dreyfus and Olwine at No. 1 doubles and Drsicoll and junior Melissa
White at No. 2 doubles also reached their respective quarterfinal
rounds.
