Awards & Honors
Zayde Antrim, who will be joining the History
Department and the International Studies Program as an assistant
professor in the fall, has been named the recipient of the 2005
Bruce D. Craig Prize for Mamluk Studies for her dissertation, “Place
and Belonging in Medieval Syria, 6th/12th to 8th/14th Centuries.”
The prize is given annually by Mamluk Studies Review for the best
dissertation on a topic related to the Mamluk Sultanate submitted to
an American or Canadian university during the preceding calendar
year.
Judy Dworin, professor of theater and
dance, received the Connecticut Dance Alliance Award for
Distinguished Achievement. The award was presented during the Dance
Masters Weekend at Wesleyan University. Dworin was also named the
recipient of the Charter Oak Cultural Center Arts and Education
Vision Award. She will be honored during a May 11 presentation
ceremony at the center in Hartford.
The Faculty Research Committee recently
