CityTerm is a specialized internship program for Trinity
juniors and seniors interested in working for an urban organization.
CityTerm addresses issues common to all cities but highights
Hartford as a learning environment for liberal arts students.
Participants undertake a semester-long internship with a local
community organization or public sector agency, working two
or four days per week and earning either two or four course
credits. The academic component of CityTerm is based on an
intensive weekly seminar conducted by a faculty member. Seminar
work includes substantial reading, research papers, and oral
presentations. A portion of the seminar focuses on the internship,
allowing students to integrate and analyze their experiences.
Additional activities such as visiting speakers and films
are offered as appropriate. Examples of CityTerm internships
include: Broad Park Development Corporation, Connecticut Judicial
Department, Connecticut Department of Economic Development:
Urban & Regional Planning, various agencies of Hartford
municipal govern-ment, Hartford Downtown Council, Charter
Oak Cultural Center, Southside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance,
