Yarel Silverio Marshall ’96 is a wife, mother, and a jack of all
trades. Currently, she manages a family-run travel agency while
pursuing a Masters in School Guidance Counseling. In her previous
life, Yarel was a stay-at-home mother of now 3 year-old Carl Dario
and 2 year-old Lissandra. Her college sweetheart and lifelong soul
mate, Carl Marshall ’96, has been serving his country as a United
States Navy medical corpsman since March, 1999.
During her four years as a student at Trinity, Yarel served for
three years as chair or co-chair of the entertainment committee on
the Pan-African Alliance (now known as Imani). She participated
as a member, and once Treasurer, for the Trinity Gospel Choir and
the Trinity College Black Women Organization. She also acted as
Business Manager of WRTC-89.3 FM, while at the same time having
her own on-air show. In those four years, Yarel also worked at
the Dean of Students Office and the Student Life Office. She ran
the Trinity Bantam Walking Escort Program from its conception
through the last two years that she attended Trinity.
Continuing the active role she took within the Trinity community,
Yarel also is involved in her home community, Lawrence,
Massachusetts, where she is on the boards of directors of the Hope
Street Youth Center and St. Mary Grammar School. Additionally,
she is an advocate for educating and involving Latin Americans,
particularly Dominicans, in the political process, especially the
importance of voting.
Keeping to her Trinity roots, Yarel currently serves as Vice
President for Programming for the Trinity College Black Alumni
Organization and as a volunteer for Trinity Admissions.
