In taking to heart the scripture Philippians 3:12-14, “I press on
toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me,” it
is clear that this Brooklyn, New York native Yndia Lorick-Wilmot
’99 strives toward what is ahead, making connections in her
personal, social and academic life. “I feel truly blessed with
God’s presence in my life and I hope to share my blessings with
those around me, both in my personal life and in my research.”
Yndia Lorick-Wilmot’99 currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts
and is striving to make changes in her community as a
Caribbean-American Sociologist by conducting research that focus
on issues relevant to race, gender, family and the migrant
experience.
At Trinity, Yndia Lorick-Wilmot was music director and disc jockey
for the campus radio station, WRTC-FM, served on the e-board of
Pan-African Alliance, was an active member of both Trinity
College’s Black Women’s Organization and IMANI, and member of the
Gospel Choir.
Yndia Lorick-Wilmot graduated from Trinity with a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Sociology. Immediately afterwards, she received her
Master’s Degree in Sociology and Graduate Certificate in Women’s
Studies from Northeastern University.
Currently, Yndia Lorick-Wilmot is a PhD candidate in Sociology at
Northeastern University and a Research Assistant for several
social science research projects. She lives in Boston with her
husband, Damian W. Wilmot, Class of 1997, who is an Attorney at
Seyfarth Shaw and the President of the BAO.
