Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: U.S. and Vietnam: Warring States with history professor Jack Chatfield. I took this class in the spring of my freshman year. It was a 300 level history class, and my first experience with the incomparable Jack Chatfield and college-level history. It was a bold look at one of the most controversial wars in American history, and through Professor Chatfield’s thoughtful lectures and discussions, I gained a view of the war completely forsaken in high school. This class was one of the single greatest factors in my decision to become a history major at Trinity.

Why I chose Trinity: I chose Trinity because I was looking for a school in an urban setting, however I was not willing to give up the suburban campus feel for the opportunity to attend an urban college. Trinity was the perfect combination of both. In addition, I felt the individualized and flexible curriculum would best suit my learning needs. The relationships I have since built with faculty, while taking the classes I want, have far exceeded my original expectations.

Extracurricular Activities: From the time I joined the Trinity community I have been involved in many different extracurricular activities. My freshman year I was a member of the Trinity crew team. Since ending my athletic career I have become an Emergency Medical Technician serving as a member of the Trinity College Emergency Response Team, I have served on the Trinity College Honor Council, I have worked in the Office of Sports Medicine as a student trainer and I have worked as a tour guide in the Admissions Office.

Professional Goals/Career Plans: I am going to work for an aquaculture coop, Island Creek Oysters, working in product development. I would also like to attend business school, not necessarily right after college, to earn an MBA.
