Ferris Athletic Center |
Ferris Athletic Center includes a field house, a new eight-lane, 37-meter swimming pool with a movable bulkhead, 16 international-size squash courts, two basketball courts, a new weight room, two crew tanks, a wrestling room and a 1/10-mile indoor track.
Adjoining Ferris are 19 acres of playing fields for soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, baseball, 11 all-weather tennis courts, and the 6,500-seat football stadium with an eight-lane, all-weather track.
The Bliss Boathouse, home of the men's and women's crew program, is on the east bank of the Connecticut River. The ice hockey teams practice and play all their home matches at the Trinity/Kingswood-Oxford School rink in West Hartford.
With the growing focus on a healthy body, Trinity has made a commitment to physical fitness. In October of 1993, the new Fitness Center was opened in the area of the old swimming pool within Ferris Athletic Center.
The facility, which is open 16 hours a day, may be used by all Trinity students, faculty, and staff members.
The Fitness Center is also the home for physical education classes -- Physical Development for Men and Body Mechanics for Women -- which are taught by members of the Trinity athletic department.
The state-of-the-art facility includes free weights, Nautilus equipment, and several cardiovascular machines, including three treadmills, six stairmasters, six lifecycles, and two ergometers.
