Trinity-in-San-Francisco is a semester-long program that
employs the wealth of resources in the San Francisco Bay Area to investigate the
American urban experience. San Francisco has many identities, "golden
gate," city of arrival for ethnically diverse communities, gateway to the
Pacific Rim, wellspring of American social movements, and center of
technological and artistic innovation. Students explore dimensions of
these identities while they develop discipline-specific skills in analysis,
research, and writing.
The program consists of several rotating forum topics for
students to choose from. Forums combine academic study with fieldwork, research,
and internships, covering topics on city government, community and culture
studies, Gay/Lesbian history, and urban planning. Courses are taught by
locally-based adjunct faculty of Trinity College, and are enhanced by special
presentations by Bay Area community leaders, artists, scholars and writers.
