Literature and Psychology
Coordinator: Associate Professor Katherine Lahti (Language and Culture Studies)
The literature and psychology minor devotes itself to integrating literary and psychological insights into human beings, their
behaviors, and their destinies as these are represented in texts of philosophy and literary and dramatic art, and in cognitive,
social, and psychoanalytic psychologies. This minor consists of six courses approved by the coordinator as relevant to the
integration of literature and psychology.
Students completing this interdisciplinary minor must include courses from at least three different fields. Students take a
200-level course to begin the minor, and then progress to at least two courses at the 300 level. As a culmination, students
complete a 400-level research and writing project, integrating and developing work from several previous courses in this
program.
