James W. Jones is
the award-winning author of
several books in the fields of
religion and science and
religion and psychology: His
most recent book is
Terror and Transformation: the
Ambiguity of Religion in
Psychoanalytic Perspective.
This is the first book to
address the nature of religion
and its capacity to sponsor
both terrorism and
transformation.
Jones
holds doctorates in both
Clinical Psychology (Rutgers
University) and Religious
Studies (Brown University) and
has been awarded the William
Bier Award by the Division of
Psychology of religion by the
American Psychological
Association for his
contributions to the field.
The
Limpitlaw Lecture Series,
funded by the generosity of
John Limpitlaw (Trinity 1957)
and his wife Susan, consists
of a repeated cycle over a
four-year period of talks by
prominent scholars linking
religion with the arts,
science or medicine, the study
of history, and business.
Dr. Jones will also read from
his latest book at Gallows
Hill Bookstore, on the Trinity
Campus, on the same day at
4:00 p.m.
