Background:     Professor Even–Zohar’s research centers on theories of heterogeneity
                        and links with cultural dynamics.He is a pioneer in cross-cultural studies
                        elaborating the role of intellectuals as builders of alternative visions of
                        society and politics. Most recently he has been working toward a
                        socio-cultural understanding of “survival” and “success” in various
                        human communities.
