A Meditation on Survival and Transcendence: An Evening With Nikki Giovanni at Trinity College

What:  

Trinity College will present "An Evening with Nikki Giovanni: A Meditation on Survival and Transcendence." Sponsored by the Trinity College Office of Multicultural Affairs, Women's Center and Black Women's Organization, the event is free and open to the public.

Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m.

Washington Room, Mather Hall, on the Trinity College campus

     
Background:  

Since 1968, Giovanni has inspired readers and critics and established herself as a best-selling poet, author, and essayist. One of our most widely read American poets, she prides herself on being "a black American, a daughter, a mother, a professor of English." She has received numerous awards, including the NAACP Image Award, in 1998 and 2002. Giovanni teaches writing, poetry and literature at Virgina Tech, where she was named University Distinguished Professor.
