Human Rights and Ethics; Can They Intersect With U.S. Foreign Policy Making?

What:  

Peter W. Galbraith, professor of national security studies at the National War College in Washington, D.C., and former U.S. ambassador to Croatia will discuss the intersection of human rights and ethics with U.S. foreign policy.

Background:  

Galbraith served as first U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Croatia where he participated in negotiations that ended the wars in the former Yugoslavia. He was co-mediator and principal architect of the 1995 Erdut Agreement that ended the war in Croatia, and provided a peaceful reintegration of Eastern Slavonia.

Galbraith’s work on behalf of human rights and democracy in Pakistan earned him that country’s highest civilian award, the Sitari-i-Quad-Azam. He has a Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center, a master’s degree in politics and economics from Oxford University and a bachelor’s degree in history from Harvard University. He is the author of published reports, scholarly articles and opinion pieces on Iraq, the Kurds, South Asia security issues and the Balkans peace processes.
