Background: |

Known as one of the Caribbean’s finest
minds, Best links the wisdom of the scholar, the judgment of the
statesman, and the passion of the artist in a unique understanding
of the political, cultural, and social history of the West Indies
within the broader Americas.
Born
and raised in the West Indies, Dr. Best was one of the few of his
class to make it to college. After leaving Oxford University in
England with second honors, he began teaching as professor in the
West Indies. Since then, Best has made significant contributions
to Caribbean thought.
