Because Trinity-in-San Francisco is a satellite program, it
cannot maintain some of the support services and personnel to which students are
accustomed on their home campuses. Students are expected to respond to the independence
within an urban setting with wisdom and discretion. In addition, the program's residence
is a beautifully appointed, historic building in a residential neighborhood. Therefore,
students are also expected to respond with maturity to the challenges of residing within a
small community and, at all times, to act with respect for each other, the neighbors and
the facility.
Code of Conduct:
1. Respect for our neighbors: Students will act with courtesy toward the neighbors
of the Bransten House at all times. All noise from music and other activities must be
contained within and limited to the Bransten House. In addition, music and other noise
must be contained within student's rooms or in the basement lounge after 11 p.m. on
weeknights, 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday (or other times as established by agreement of
the students in the program).
2. Respect for the facility: Students are expected to have a mature attitude towards a
historic building. Willful damaging of property is punishable both by fine for replacement
cost and by immediate expulsion from the program. Students are expected to decorate their
rooms in ways that do not involve nailing into walls or adhesion to painted surfaces
(hooks and picture wire will be supplied to the students).
3. Smoking: The Bransten House is a no-smoking facility (Welcome to California!) An
outdoor patio area is available for students who smoke.
4. Over-night guests: For reasons of security, students may not host overnight guests
in the facility without the prior knowledge and consent of the residential staff. In
addition, students are asked to exercise caution in inviting any people unknown to them,
or whom they do not know well into the House at any time.
5. Community: Student are expected to be cooperative members of the community living
within the House, and they must agree to abide by any additional rules agreed upon by a
majority of students, including those rules relating to noise and to the use of the
kitchen, bathrooms, computer lab, lounges, and other shared spaces. Students shall be
responsible for any messes they may create in these spaces.
In applying to participate in the Trinity in San Francisco Program, students are
required to sign and return this sheet, pledging to abide by these rules and
understandings, as well as the broader regulations set forth in the Trinity College
Handbook. The Director of the Trinity-in-San Francisco may require a student's immediate
withdrawal form the program (with subsequent loss of fees paid and academic credit) if,
after appropriate consultation, he decides that the student has acted in a manner
detrimental to or incompatible with the welfare of the program.
As an applicant to the Trinity in San Francisco program, I have read the code of
conduct set forth on this sheet. If I become a participant, I pledge to abide by it, as
well as by the regulations contained in the Trinity College Handbook, and I accept the
authority of the Program Director. In addition, I agree to show maturity, reasonable
discretion, and consideration for the rights of others without specific regulations to
govern every contingency.
