The Learning Technology Project

Introduction

Trinity College Library and Computing Center, with the support of the Charles E. Culpeper Foundation, have established the Learning Technology Project. The goal of this three-year project is to maintain and extend the College's excellence in applying information technology to the processes of teaching and learning. The Project will allow us

  • to strengthen our program of support for faculty and curricular enrichment through information technology
  • to encourage self-confidence and imagination in harnessing new resources in teaching and learning for our faculty
  • to challenge the College to think boldly about the future role of information technology in academia, and continue its role as a leader
  • to promote inter-institutional cooperation between and among the College and its community partners which have programs which are consonant with the objectives of the Project.

These goals accord strongly, albeit in different measures, to the current missions of the Academic Computing program and the Reference and Instructional Services program of the Library. Thus, the fundamental objective of the Learning Technology Project (LTP) will be to strengthen these existing programs by extending their range and depth, and enhancing collaboration between them.

An important subsidiary goal of the LTP is:

  • to expand significantly the role of the College Library as a partner in the deployment of instructional technology; This will include staff and program development, and assistance in designing certain spaces in the library construction project.
