The laboratory explores issues critical to Colonialism in the Americas drawing on mathematical, scientific, and medical expertise.  Indigenous mathematics, and the mathematics behind the demographic catastrophe of the Indian peoples in the face of the Conquest are engaged.  Secondly, the different notions of "diseases" and medical diagnosis of epidemics and how they affected the colonized and the colonizers are explored.  Finally, the theories of "race and human evolution" and how they affected how colonizers valued the colonized, and those surviving colonialism, are explored.
