Taught by: Dr. Nancy Birch-Wagner, Assoicate Academic Dean

In the laboratory component of the course, students will discover and experiment with other aspects of Faust: such as the theories about color, plant and animal evolution, cloud formations, minerals, the origin of the earth, and the human psyche. Using poems and passages from the drama, each session will explore Goethe’s scientific concepts with the help of experiments and demonstrations led by faculty who will visit the class. There is no preparation for the lab beyond the assignment of Faust itself. Because these laboratories are designed at the introductory level, preference will be given to students without extensive science backgrounds.
