Dario A. Euaraque, Director of International Studies Program I mportant work will be carried out in "lab" sessions associated with particular topics. This laboratory explores issues critical to Colonialism in the Americas drawing on mathematical, scientific, and medical expertise. We will both consider/study indigenous mathematics and how current mathematics can be used to determine the extent/dimensions of the demographic catastrophe; we will also explore how different notions of "diseases" and medical diagnosis of epidemics and psychology affected the colonized and the colonizers. Finally, we will explore how theories of "race and human evolution" affected how colonizers valued the colonized, and those surviving colonialism. |
