Information Literacy Standards (Condensed Version)
(Condensed Version of Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education, Association of College and Research Libraries, 2000)

 
  1. Use information ethically and legally
  • Understands the concepts of intellectual property, copyright, and fair use of copyrighted material

  • Follows laws, regulations and institutional polices for access and use of information (e.g. Trinity’s Student Integrity Contract, Student Handbook, Rules and Regulations for Computing)

  • Participates in electronic discussion following accepted practices (e.g. “Netiquette)

  • Preserves the integrity of information resources, equipment, systems, and facilities

  • Legally obtains, stores, and disseminates text, data, images or sounds

  • Understands what constitutes plagiarism and does not represent work attributable to others as his/her own

  • Acknowledges the use of information sources in any presentations

  • Uses appropriate and consistent documentation style to cite sources

  • Follows institutional policies related to human subjects research
