A. Literature-based information
- Examines and
compares information from various sources
- Reads texts and
identifies main ideas
- Identifies the
context in which information was generated
- Recognizes
textual concepts and analyses supporting arguments and viewpoints
- Draws
conclusions based upon the information gathered
- Synthesizes main
ideas to construct new concepts
- Integrates new
information with previous information or knowledge
- Validates
understanding and interpretation of the information by communicating
with other individuals, subject specialists, and/or practitioners
- Confirms that
the collected information appropriately supports the research topic or
thesis statement
B. Data and Experiment-based
information
- Examines and
evaluates collected data
- Recognizes and
considers assumptions and biases made at any point of the data
collection
- Distinguishes
between experimental observations and interpretations of the results
- Develops
alternative interpretations that are feasible from results or
observations
- Formulates or
clearly supports or refutes the hypothesis
- Designs further
experiments that may provide additional tests of the hypothesis or
distinguish between interpretations
- Analyzes,
interprets, and evaluates (statistically where necessary), data from
experiments in order to formulate a conclusion
- Develops the
ability to integrate results, interpretations, and conclusions into a
conceptual framework or model
