- Selects most
appropriate investigative method (e.g., laboratory experiment,
simulation, fieldwork, literature search)
- Investigates the
scope, content, and organization of information systems and tools
- Develops a
research plan appropriate to the investigative methods
- Uses a variety
of services to retrieve the needed information (e. g., libraries,
electronic resources, professional organizations and research offices;
community resources; experts and practitioners)
- Assesses
quantity, quality and relevance of the search results and refines
search strategy as necessary
- Extracts,
records and organizes the information and its sources using
appropriate technologies
