This conference will bring together teachers, students, researchers, journalists, commentators, activists, and others interested in the contemporary state of public discourse, the future of politics online, and the complex role of education in preparing active citizens for democracy. We will be organizing discussion groups that will offer participants an unusual opportunity for conversations across academic disciplines, public roles, professional lives, and geographic areas, from the local to the global. • the intersection of literature and politics
• activism and protest in the new public square
• the media and politics

Conference Proceedings will be published electronically, and participants will be invited to submit their work for consideration for a print collection of essays.
