Name: Juli Martha
Year: Senior!
Major: Neuroscience
Hometown: Topsfield, MA
Info: My favorite movies include The Little Mermaid and (at the moment) The Life Aquatic. This is my second year as a Praxis member, and I have really enjoyed living here and being a member of this community. The reason that I joined Praxis was because I was looking for a new living situation and for a way to get myself involved with other passionate, interesting people. Praxis has been a great way for me to meet people who I have ended up having lots in common with, but who I might never have met otherwise. It has also given me access to all sorts of different opportunities to get involved in the Hartford and Trinity communities!

I’m Beth Jones in the class of 2006 and I’m a neuroscience major. I joined Praxis my junior year and am now Praxis Co-coordinator along with Juli Martha. Last year I volunteered at the Trust House which is a center for adults in Hartford to study for their GED’s or to take ESL classes. I also work at the Institute of Living with patients in the Schizophrenia Rehabilitation Program and am currently working on my senior thesis in that area. I grew up in Bremen, Germany and love to travel. I like to horse-back ride (I was on the equestrian team), read, sleep and hang out with friends in my free time.

Name: Chase Anderson

Year: Junior/'07

Major: American Studies (with a concentration in gender); minor in Legal
Studies

Hometown: Seattle, WA -- 206!!!

I'm just a chill NW guy trying to learn the crazy NE ways. I found a good
Starbucks, so I'm off to a great start.

As a transfer student, this is my first year at Trinity. I joined Praxis for
the opportunity to connect with both the campus community and the Hartford
community right from the start. The residential element of the program is
also a blessing -- there's a much higher level of respect present in the
dorm when everyone knows each other. (And the folks here like good music, so
even the paperthin walls are tolerable....)

On campus, I'm allegedly "everywhere." Besides fumbling through classes and
serving as the sarcastic office lackey of the Women's Studies/Sociology
office, I'm involved with a new campus organization called "Feminists
United." As an equality-based group, we are developing political and
educational projects relating to the campus, the region and the nation. I
also dine with the campus political elite once a week, and cram in as many
other events as time permits.

Major: right now undecided, maybe something to do with International Relations but not too positive.

Hometown: Brooklyn, NY ~~NYC!!!

Info: Um... I joined Praxis for the bathrooms, after living in Jarvis this place is awesome. =]  I'm apart of EROS- very cool organization, Anime Club, Trinknitters (finally know how to crochet!) and CineStudio (I have free movie passes for those who don't mind watching movies on the weekdays or the matinees). hmm, I don't have a favorite animal, not because I can't make up my mind but because I find all animals fascinating, amazing and beautiful. There's supposedly lots of stuff that's interesting about me, like I don't know how to swim even though I took a class for several weeks, or that I ran over the only curb in an empty parking lot. =P In my free time I like wandering around on campus, knitting or beginning crocheting, watching TV or movies, and sleeping. But seriously who has free time nowadays, I spend most of it catching up on work that I still somehow have after finishing everything.

I'm studying politics and interning in the British House of Commons for the Fall 2005 semester, though I'm still trying to keep up with my community service duties by joining such groups as Amnesty International at local British universities.  I'm coming up short on fun facts about myself, so at the suggestion of my roommate Elizabeth and of course, Nora, I'm submitting the fact that I can raise one of my eyebrows.  As for my favorite position, providing that this is a clean survey, I do enjoy sitting cross-legged on couches.

Name: Lindsay Mohr

Year: 2007

Major: Psychology

Hometown: Springfield, NJ

Info: In addition to Praxis I am a member of Hillel, in the program Best Buddies, and an admissions tour guide.  I joined Praxis because I always used to do a lot of community service in high school and since coming to college it's been harder for me to find outlets and organized community service events.  So with Praxis, I know that there are certain events that we do every semester and opportunities that come up that are unexpected.  What I like most about Praxis is that I know I'm living with a group of people who enjoy helping the community in some way.  And it's great to live in one building because you can really get to know everyone.
I love Gallows Hill and the Underground so if I have free time I am generally in one of those two places.  I like caramel apple cider!  I have always loved monkeys but would not like one as a pet, instead, I would like a kitten for my birthday (which is tomorrow as I write this).

I joined PRAXIS because I love doing community service around campus and in the Hartford area, and I feel it is very rewarding experience to know that you are doing something for your community.  I am a member of many different organizations on campus such as La Voz Latina, Trinity College Activities Council, Black Student Union, F.A.C.E.S., and Trinity College Black Women's Organization.  I am a huge Duke Men's Basketball fan, and I enjoy being on Facebook in my spare time.

I like to be involved with whats going on at trinity. I work at Mather front Desk as a building manager, and also at campus safety.  I'm a  member of Eros, and its community service sub commitee.  I was also a Quest Leader for the incoming 2009 freshman class. I love volunteering and community service. I kind've miss it considering I was used to massive comm. service hours and projects in high school, so I joined PRAXIS and now Ican I do some!

My favorite color is blue, I love dogs, and I love tea...I like to do anything outdoors climbing, camping etc... I like the rain not so much getting caught in it...I love tea and coffee...If you ever need tea come see me!

Well, I am studying abroad in London for the fall semester, and I
am very excited about living in Doonesbury upon my return. What I
like best about Praxis is that I have never had so much fun doing
community service as I did last year, and I have made some awesome
friends who encourage me to do ridiculous things like go to a
bowling alley dressed in 80's costumes. As for what I do when on
campus, I am actively involved in Trintegrity and a member of
Lions' Club. Other fun stuff about me... I am a figure skater, I
collect rubber duckies, I love walking in the rain, and I really
 really like limes. :o)

What most people don't know about me is that I transferred here from a music school...yes, music school.  That environment was a bit...eccentric, which is why I find myself here at Trin.  Obviously, I still love to sing, whether in concert choir, to my Itunes (you'd only be so luck to overhear that), or in my a capella group, the Dischords.  In addition to choir, I am a member of VAMP, TCAC, and have a job at the childcare center.  I'm also interning this semester at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center School.  But onto more important things.  My current obsessions include the show "Arrested Development,"  spending money I don't have, and finding other people's pets on campus and pretending they're mine.

Info: I am a Zeta sister, Hillel aficionado, ConnPIRG member, and Campus Safety employee. I joined PRAXIS because I was looking for a group of fun, interesting, compassionate people who care about social justice and maintaining a strong sense of community. My interests include, but are not limited to: exercising, reading, writing, art, music (both playing and listening to), scholarly discourse, mischief, merriment, cooking, and kickin' it with my homies. I also enjoy a fine brew. Something interesting about me is that I can wiggle my ears. And, I suppose if you are lucky enough, you will find out what my favorite position is.

Name: Aaram Isah

Year: 2007

Major: Engineering

Background: In West Philadelphia born and raised.....well not really, but I am from Philly. I transferred from Franklin & Marshall in the middle of my freshman year (never really saw trinity until then). Lived in Frobb my 1st semester, which was pretty wild, but it was a pretty good introduction to the school. Well so far so good. I heard about PRAXIS one day while eating at the Bistro. Hayley sold me on the idea of community and a nice dorm and it sounded pretty good so I decided to apply. Hmm I think one of my best moments was when I was planting flowers in a park, and we asked the woman who was directing us how we should arrange them, and she said "arranging flowers is like writing a poem" that was pretty funny. I think that's about it........bye bye now

I’m currently a senior and a double major in American Studies and English, with a concentration in Creative Writing. This has been my third consecutive year in Praxis. Without a doubt, being involved in Praxis has made my college experience better than it ever could have been without it. Originally from Hartford, it has been important to me throughout my four years here at Trinity to give back to the community, and Praxis has allowed me to do that while having fun and meeting a wide variety of interesting, committed people. It’s fascinating to me that while many of our staple group projects have remained the same over the years, the experience of being in Praxis has been different each year. By far, Praxis is one of the most diverse student organizations on campus, in all senses of the word, and in Praxis what you give through community service you get back, not just through the satisfaction of doing something positive but also through having fun, learning, and interacting with such a great group of people. When I first joined in my sophomore year Praxis had shrunken to just 11 members, and as wonderful an experience as that was it has been a pleasure watching Praxis thrive and grow in the past few years.
