My
project this semester will be to volunteer for Imani's "Power," which
is a tutorial program for the young kids at the Boys & Girls Club. People
thought it would be a little more comfortable to have study sessions in
the Umoja house. That's going to take place once a week. I just recently
expressed my interest to Joe about the San Juan tutorial, and I going to do that on
Thursdays. |

I am currently involved in teaching a class called "Body Works" to 6-8 year olds
at the Boys & Girls Club. Dana Reynolds-Rock and I created the program to introduce
kids to the art of expression through movement. I know it sounds funny but it is amazing
what kids will do when given the correct environment. Our project began in September and
it runs till the end of the semester. We are hoping to have a final performance for the
rest of the kids at the Boys & Girls Club and their parents. I am extremely interested
in the Arts in education and how it enhances learning and self awareness. I hope to
continue this program or others like it while at Trinity. Eventually I would like to work
as a educator or dance therapist. |
