The Belden-Stratford is about a 15 minute walk from DePaul’s Lincoln Park Campus where Thursday’s and Friday’s sessions will take place. The hotel is on the National Register of Historical Landmarks. It is located right across from the Lincoln Park Flower Conservatory and the Lincoln Park Zoo.

There are two excellent restaurants in the hotel, Mon Ami Gabi, a French very fine bistrot, and Ambria, a five star restaurant. There is a great sun deck on top of the hotel and a fitness center for guests.

Directions to Hotel:

(A map of the area around hotel can be downloaded from the same site as this document)

By Train: From Union Station catch the #151 (Sheridan) bus north. Just after passing the Lincoln Park Zoo you should get off at the “Fullerton” stop or simply ask your bus driver to let you off as close as possible to the Belden-Stratford. Cross the street to strip of park to the west and walk south down Lincoln Park West about 300 yards. The large, white stone building on the corner of Belden and Lincoln Park West is the Belden Stratford.

By Car: From Lake Shore Drive, get off at the Fullerton Exit and go west on Fullerton about 500 yards to Lincoln Park West (it’s the second traffic light). Turn left on Lincoln Park West. The Belden-Stratford is about 300 yards up on the right.

From I-90/94, take the Fullerton Exit and continue east. Turn right on Lincoln Park West (the second right after crossing Clark Street). The Belden-Stratford is about 300 yards up on the right.

You can also look at the hotel’s website, which has a link to MapQuest:

From the Airport: A small “boutique” hotel, the Belden-Stratford does not have its own shuttle to or from either of Chicago’s two airports. Cab fare from O’Hare will run $30-35 and will take 30-40 minutes. Cab fare from Midway will run $25-30 and will take 20-30 minutes. For those with an adventurous spirit, a twenty minute train ride and then another twenty minute bus ride will take you within a block of the Belden-Stratford for $2.25.

From O’Hare by Public Transportation:

Follow signs in the airport for “Trains to the City.” You will need to buy a transit card and put at least $2.25 on it. Get on any train at O’Hare and take the train into the city. Get off at the Clark/Lake stop. Walk half a block east to Dearborn Ave. About 50 yards north on Dearborn you will see a covered bus stop on the east side of the street. Take either the #22 (Clark) bus or the #36 (Broadway) bus, whichever comes first, for about 15-20 minutes. Get off at the “Belden” stop (one stop after “Webster”). Walk east one block. The large, white ornate building at the end of the block on your left is the Belden-Stratford. The entrance is not on Belden Ave. but on Lincoln Park West.

From Midway by Public Transportation: Exact same directions as above. You will take the train into the city by a different line but you will also get off at the Clark/Lake stop and transfer to a bus.

Annual Dues:  The Society has established annual membership dues at $30 (includes subscription to Epoché).  This may be paid with conference registration or at any time that you wish to join the APS.  For payment of the annual dues, please make check payable (for dues only) to: Ancient Philosophy Society and mail to address above with registration form or mail dues separately to APS Co-Director:  Jill Gordon; Department of Philosophy; Colby College; Waterville, ME 04901.
