2008 Robot Hide and Seek

Scenes from the 2007 RHS Event

Once again, the Connecticut Council on Developmental Disabilities is sponsoring a ”Robot Hide And Seek" competition. The goal of Robot Hide and Seek is to develop robots capable of finding a child with autism or intellectual disabilities who panics in a fire and hides in a burning house. In this second year of the Robot Hide and Seek competition, the Council is also sponsoring a speaker, Dr. Francois Michaud of the University of Sherbrooke, Quebec, who will take part in the Saturday April 12 afternoon symposium. Dr. Michaud's website is http://www.gel.usherbrooke.ca/michaudf/. A list of his work with children with autism labels may be found at http://www.gel.usherbrooke.ca/laborius/projects/Robotism/index.html. The Council hopes that the symposium will attract a good number of parents. The Council also plans to sponsor a demonstration of ConnectR, the new interactive robot from the iRobot Corporation.
