Welcome to the 1998-99 Diaspora Project Web page
The 1998-99 Migrations, Diasporic Communities and Transnational Identities project is a co-curricular initiative which explores the challenges and issues facing "diasporic" communities across the globe. Based on the model of last year's Decolonization Series, this series  includes a cluster of introductory and advanced level courses including first-year and upper-level research seminars; a special independent study course (College Course-135) directly linked to the series; a faculty lecture series; an on-line discussion forum; special guest speakers; and a scholarly conference. Like the Decolonization Series, the 1998-99 series creates an environment in which students and faculty can engage each other in both academic and non-academic settings. Additionally, the series adds a new component, involving efforts to encourage organizations from immigrant and other "diasporic" communities within the Greater Hartford area to contribute to the series.
