Women, Gender, and Sexuality Goes Global

Make Your interest in Women, Gender, and Sexuality transnational: take advantage of opportunities to engage in gender studies at one of Trinity College's study away sites.   Several of these sites offer students the possibility of exploring specific gender and sexuality topics in a variety of exciting cultural locations.  Each site also offers accompanying internships that we encourage students to take advantage of.

Kathmandu--here in Trinity's Nepal site--focus on either Tibetan or Nepalese culture and language, while taking courses on women in the arts, religion, or health/development, as well as gender and human rights. Director Peter Moran can help you design your gender studies focus and assist you in finding and defining an appropriate internship for you interests--perhaps in the area of women and crafts- in this incredible crossroads of Asian cultures.

Santiago--Our Santiago site emphasizes women's rights and human rights, with a core course through the Center for Gender Studies as well as a variety of elective courses (all at the University of Chile) and a unique set of internships with human rights organizations.  Pedro Matta, onsite in Santiago,  will help you find the gender internship suited to your needs.  See Professor Dario Euraque about these exciting opportunities to enhance your gender studies in the Spanish language.

Trinidad (other site)--Coming soon, the gender track in Trinidad will provide allows you to focus on (a) gender and development and gender in Caribbean culture or (b) gender in the Muslim diaspora  with courses through the Center for Gender Studies, University of West Indies or (on Islam) at the Islamic Academy.  Students will also choose unique internships at organizations like Working Women or through the various women's leagues associated with the Islamic Academy in Port of Spain. Talk with Janet Bauer, Director of Women, Gender, and Sexuality, about these options.
