Stereotype Threat
As result of a CHAS faculty grant,Dr. Steven Stroessner, Professor of Psychology at Barnard College, Columbia University has developed a website called Reducing Stereotype Threat. He is a graduate of Hope College in 1987 and a recipient of a Ph.D. in Social/Personality Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1992 and his primary research examines cognitive, affective, and motivational factors in stereotyping and prejudice of Barnard College.The website is a result of this research and his continuing efforts to re-examine the consequences, mechanisms, situations, criticisms and yet-unresolved issues of stereotype threat and CHAS' dedication to implementing diversity initiatives in a way that promotes high achievement and success.
