Promoting Excellence Project
Our goal for the fall of 2004 is to introduce another working group,
focusing on students capable of
the highest levels of academic achievement.
This project will address efforts by our institutions to recruit
high achieving underrepresented students and then to ensure that they are
appropriately challenged in college and prepared for leadership in their
communities and professions following graduation.
The proposed program will focus on science, math and other quantitative
disciplines. We plan to seek funding for implementation of a program across
institutions this fall.
Institutions currently involved in the planning phase of this project include
Bates College, Bowdoin College, Bryn Mawr College, College of the Holy
Cross, Oberlin College, Smith College,
and Trinity College.
