Representing 29 CHAS institutions,
presidents gathered along with their institution’s chief academic
officer to discuss and shape the agenda of CHAS. The presidents
affirmed CHAS’ mission, and urged its leadership to engage faculty in
its work. They also emphasized the relevance of the connection between
classroom and co-curricular learning in promoting the success and
satisfaction of underrepresented student groups.

Thirty CHAS presidents, accompanied
by both the chief academic officer and the chief student affairs officer
of their institution, met for a pivotal meeting. In addition to setting
the CHAS agenda for the near future, they reconfirmed their commitment
to CHAS and undertook the funding of the organization through member
contributions. Three institutions became new members. With an initial
commitment for three years of funding, CHAS is operating with the
engagement of our most concerned leaders.
