PAST MEETINGS
This conference will bring together diverse student teams and administrators and faculty from various CHAS campuses with a highly interactive leadership training experience, . Targeting students holding leadership positions in organizations such as SGA, cultural organizations, fraternities and sororities and community service organizations, this is an opportunity for students to consider their role in promoting an inclusive atmosphere on their campus, working across lines of race and ethnicity to develop skills in promoting positive changes in the campus climate. Students will hear from experienced speakers, have opportunities to explore their own perspectives on and experiences with inclusive diversity, and develop an action plan that builds on the skills development and team building experiences of the two days. Student teams will share this action plan for promoting a diverse social and cultural life with the college/university president upon their return.
We invite you to be a part of this conference by organizing a team of up to eight representatives that should include: 1) a diverse group of five students holding leadership positions in a variety of student organizations, such as SGA, Sororities and Fraternities, cultural organizations and community service organizations 2) two administrators with an interest in promoting student initiatives that impact upon campus climate 3) one faculty member interested in the link between campus and classroom climate It is ideal to invite a majority of sophomores, and some juniors if necessary. Seniors will not have an opportunity to implement programs and pass on information and strategies to underclassmen in later years. Planning Committee: Steve Watter
