Most participants in Consortium working groups or workshops come from a narrow range of campus constituencies (most prominently deans of students, academic support personnel, admissions and financial aid specialists, multicultural affairs personnel, and interested faculty). To encourage widespread institutional change and to ensure that the success and satisfaction of students of color is a salient concern to all campus decision-makers, broader involvement in the Consortium’s activities and commitment to its goals are essential. Accordingly, we are convening meetings of campus constituencies whose professional affiliations place them in strategically important positions to assess and programmatically address the distinct needs of students of color in their day-to-day work. The attendees will share ideas, learn about best practices, set measurable goals for improvement, and be invited to begin the process of collaborating on projects designed to address common concerns. Funding will be sought to implement collaborative and single-institution projects that promise to spread commitment to the Consortium’s aims. At least six different Consortium member schools have hosted meetings.
