CHAS Steering Board 2008:

Holly Sateia, Dean of Student Life, DARTMOUTH COLLEGE

Leslie Hill, Associate Professor Political Science & Special Assistant to the President, BATES COLLEGE

Darryl Smaw, Dean for Multicultural Affairs, SWARTHMORE COLLEGE

Karla Spurlock-Evans, Dean for Multicultural Affairs, TRINITY COLLEGE

Steering Board History:

CHAS was founded in 2001 under the leadership of Dr. Sharon Herzberger, who was Vice-President of Student Services at Trinity College, and is now the President of Whittier College. She served as Chair of the steering board until 2005, when she left for Whittier.

Another founding member, Ed Pittman of Vassar College, serves on the current steering board.

The representatives of the six institutions on the steering board play a role in CHAS decision making, and communication with CHAS presidents. The steering board members are elected by the institutional representatives from each school, and serve a several year term. The terms are staggered to allow longer serving board members to serve with newer board members.
