8^th Annual Black and Latino Male Conference
“The Fire This Time: Politics, Economics and Identity”
November 14-16, 2008

 

Hosted by Bucknell University

Teams of students, faculty and administrators from CHAS schools are invited to register for this conference, which will address the work of public service and the connections to how gender and race are formulated today.  Look forward to a weekend of discussion, skill-building, networking, and social activities.  

The agenda follows.  If your campus team includes female students, please note that general sessions are open to all, however, male and female tracks have been designed for Conversation Circles that include student participants.  We hope this format will allow for sessions that provide more focused forums whereby open and frank discussions on sensitive issues can take place in a safe environment.

The invited speakers include:

Dr. James Peterson in the Department of English at Bucknell University

Trent Hargrove, Pennsylvania Chief Diversity Officer and Bucknell alumnus

Dr. Shaun Harper, in the department of Higher Education Management, Graduate School of Education at Penn State

Dr. Cary Fraser, in the Department of African and African-American Studies at Penn State University

 

AGENDA

REGISTRATION:
The registration deadline is Monday, November 3. Please follow this link to submit a registration for your campus team. The registration fee for non-member attendees is $50.00 per person, and checks should be made out to Trustees of Trinity College. If your institution is not a member of CHAS, please contact us before registering.

LODGING:
Students are invited to stay in the Bucknell dormitories with host students during the conference and that they should bring their own sleeping bags and pillows for this stay.
A block of rooms is also available at the Lewisburg Best Western, Route 15N, Lewisburg, PA 17837, 570-524-5500 until November 3, 2008. Once your registration is received (before November 5), we will make reservations for CHAS attendees.
