STUDENTS BRINGING A CAR TO CAMPUS THIS FALLBecause of the unusual amount of construction activity this year, parking space on campus will be reduced substantially. For this reason, we devised, with the help of the SGA, a parking plan that sets aside a reasonable number of spaces for all constituencies and should make finding a parking space easier for all. Please read the notes below to make sure you understand the plan for student parking.SENIORS AND JUNIORS WHO REGISTERED THEIR CARSIf you registered your car last spring (during the housing lottery or subsequently at Campus Safety), you may bring your car to campus when you return this fall or spring. Please stop by the Campus Safety Office the day of your arrival to pick up your parking sticker and to obtain a map noting where you may park. If you were on campus last spring and did not register your intention to bring a car, do not bring a car to campus without the permission of Campus Safety (see below.SENIORS AND JUNIORS WHO WERE NOT IN RESIDENCE LAST SPRINGWe have saved a few parking spaces for seniors and juniors who were not on campus last spring and, therefore, were unable to register their intention to bring a car to campus. Please contact Jorge Lugo (860-297-2222) immediately to reserve a spot. Then stop by the Campus Safety Office the day of your arrival to pick up your parking sticker and to obtain a map noting where you may park.SOPHOMORES WHO REGISTERED AN INTENTION TO BRING A CAR TO CAMPUSWe are able to accommodate 75 of the 112 sophomores who expressed an interest in bringing a car to campus this fall. The 75 sophomores were selected by lottery and, if you received a note attached to this letter, you are one of the fortunate 75. Read the attached note carefully because it provides information about your parking privileges. You will be parking at the Learning Corridor parking garage, which is about a block from campus and will be serviced during the night hours by the shuttle system. If you decide to exercise this opportunity to bring a car to campus, please pick up your parking sticker and information packet on the day of your arrival.STUDENTS WHO HAVE CHANGED THEIR MINDS ABOUT BRINGING A CARTHOSE WHO REGISTERED, BUT WHO NO LONGER WANT TO BRING A CAR are asked to contact Jorge Lugo at 860-297-2222 (also jorge.lugo@trincoll.edu). Contacting Mr. Lugo ahead of time will enable us to inform another student that he/she has been granted parking privileges. On Tuesday, September 4th, we will assume that all students who have not picked up their parking stickers are no longer interested in bringing a car to campus, and we will void their registration.JUNIORS AND SENIORS IN RESIDENCE LAST SPRING WHO NOW WANT TO REGISTER THEIR CARYou will be placed on a waiting list and, as spaces become available, may be notified. You may call Jorge Lugo (860-297-2222) to be placed on the wait list or drop by at any time during the semester. Do not bring a car to campus until you are informed that space is available for parking. All available spaces will be assigned.FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING A CAR TO CAMPUS.If you have any remaining questions, call Jorge Lugo at 860-297-2222.
