Robert A. Pedemonti

Vice President and Treasurer Emeritus of Trinity College

Robert A. Pedemonti ‘60 served as Treasurer of Trinity College from 1975 until his retirement in 2003. He began in 1968 as Budget Director in a difficult context of deficits and quickly restored Trinity to a remarkable regime of balanced budgets and academic and financial growth for the duration of his tenure of more than three decades. Trinity’s endowment grew twelve-fold on his watch. A secret to Mr. Pedemonti’s success was a characteristic blend of prudent stewardship, shrewd investment sense, and deep affection for Trinity. He received the prestigious Eigenbrodt Cup Alumni Award in 2000. Trinity marked Mr. Pedemonti’s retirement in 2003 by inviting his counterpart Walter Persegati (Treasurer Emeritus of the Vatican Museums) to give a slide lecture in his honor about the cleaning of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Frescoes, with humorous asides about the trials and tribulations of being treasurer of an ambitious non-profit organization.
