TCOnline Advance Registration Worksheet

Welcome to Advance Registration using TCOnline! This is the worksheet (see page 2) you should use to select your courses for next semester. Please read the following instructions carefully:

1.†† Select Your Courses.Using the TCOnline version of the Schedule of Classes (http://internet2.trincoll.edu/ptools/CourseListing.aspx), select courses for next semester and write them on the worksheet.Build your schedule around the courses you need most. Also select alternate courses, so that if your first choice is not available, you will already have other courses in mind.

  1. Obtain PINs for Courses Requiring Permission.Determine whether your course choices require permission of the instructor (indicated with a ďYĒ in the Permission Req. column of the Schedule of Classes). If so, you will need to obtain a Permission of Instructor Number (PIN), a 6-digit number that you will enter online when registering for that course.Obtain the PIN from the instructor during Advising Week.It will be printed on a label that the instructor will give to you, which you should then place on your worksheet in the Permission Required column. If you obtain a PIN for a course that requires it, you are guaranteed a spot in that course and do not need to select an alternate.Keep in mind that a PIN may be used only once, by one student.Do not lose your PINs and do not share them with anyone else!

B. †† Determine if You Meet the Conditions for Enrollment. Many of the courses listed in the Schedule of Classes require that you meet certain conditions, such as a minimum grade in a prerequisite course, concurrent enrollment in a course, certain class standing, or declaration of a particular major or minor. You will be unable to enroll in a course if you have not met the condition(s).However, if you believe you are eligible to enroll in the course, you may complete and submit (by the end of Advising Week) to the Registrarís Office a Course Exception/Override Form (available at the Registrarís Office).See that form for more information. Please note:TCOnline does not recognize transfer credit courses as fulfilling prerequisite course requirements, nor repeated courses if the first grade you earned was not the required grade. You must submit a signed Course Exception/Override Form in these cases.

C.††† Courses Requiring Special Registration Forms. You may not enroll online in Theses, Independent Studies, Teaching Assistantships, Research Assistantships, Senior Projects, or any other course requiring a Special Registration Form.If you wish to enroll in such a course, you must submit the Special Registration Form to the Registrarís Office by the end of Advance Registration or during the Add/Drop Period.

D.††† Course Load. You do not need to have 4.00 credits during Registration, as long as you DO have 4.0 credits by the end of Add/Drop next semester. Therefore, do not enroll in courses simply because you believe you must be full-time now (for next semester).TCOnline will not allow you to exceed 5.75 credits. You must be enrolled in at least one course by the end of Advance Registration to participate in the Housing Lottery.

E.†††† Enrollment Limits & Time Conflicts.TCOnline will not allow you to exceed the enrollment limit for a course or enroll in two courses meeting at the same time.If you obtain permission from an instructor to enroll in a course that is full or for which you have a time conflict, have the instructor sign a Course Exception/Override Form and submit it to the Registrarís Office by the end of Advance Registration.

2.†† Meet with Your Advisor Prior to Your Enrollment Appointment.Once you have selected your courses and alternates, and obtained PINs for courses requiring permission, you must meet with your faculty advisor to review your course selections.PRIOR TO YOUR ENROLLMENT APPOINTMENT, your advisor must release a Registration Hold that has been placed on your record. You may not enroll for courses until your advisor approves your selections.Donít wait until the last minute!Make (and keep) an appointment with your advisor!

3.†† Go to TCOnline and Register for Courses. When you are ready, log in to TCOnline (http://TCOnline.trincoll.edu) and go!You may add all the courses you wish to take at once (adding one course at a time bogs down the system for everyone). If you encounter error messages for one or more classes, go back and add your alternates.Online help is available by clicking on Help on any page.

4.†† Print Your Own Schedule. The Registrarís Office will not send you a printed confirmation, so you should print your own schedule! If your schedule does not display a course, you are not registered for it!
