RE: Classroom Requests
A few words of explanation now about the classroom request procedure may help
to answer questions which arise after the semester has begun.
Prior to the beginning of each semester all classroom assignments, both evening
and daytime, are made by the Registrar's Office and published in the August and
January editions of the Course Listing. In April and October, I send request
forms to faculty and ask that they submit their classroom preferences to me for
the upcoming semester. Rooms and times for Teaching Assistants, if known, should
be requested at the same time on the same form. The Calendar Office will not book
classroom space during these intervals.
After the semester has begun, all requests for use of classroom space in the evening
(i.e., after 4:00 p.m.) must be addressed to the Calendar Office. Teaching Assistants
who do not have rooms reserved in advance should see the Calendar Office to vie for
use of evening classrooms on a first-come, first-served basis. During the day (i.e.,
until 4:00 p.m.) all classroom space is reserved for academic use and is assigned by
the Registrar's Office. Teaching Assistants who do not have rooms reserved in advance
and who wish to use classroom space during the day should address their requests to
the Registrar's Office, although such space is at a premium.
Please do not hesitate to call me (x2116) with questions regarding the classroom
request procedure.
