MCCLOSKEY SCORES 1,000TH POINT IN TRINITY
WOMEN'S HOOPS WIN AGAINST MOUNT IDA
Williamstown, Mass.- Senior center Kate McCloskey (Uxbridge, Mass.) scored 12 points, including the 1,000th point of her collegiate career, and added game-highs of 12 rebounds and six steals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 84-45 win over the Mount Ida College Mustangs in the consolation round of the Williams College Tip-Off Tournament this evening. Trinity evens its season record at 1-1, while the Mustangs fall to 0-2. Bates trounced Williams, 75-49, in the finals of the tourney.
McCloskey entered the game with 996 points and finished with 1,008 to become just the seventh Trinity women's basketball player to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Bantam sophomore forward Michelle McCaffrey (Springfield, Mass.) led all scorers with 20 points, along with nine boards, five assists, and three steals, while sophomore forward Rebecca Bell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) contributed 15 points, three assists, and three steals off the bench. Trinity boasted five scorers in double digits, as freshman forward Jennifer Gargiulo (Boxboro, Mass.) netted a career-high 14 points and seven rebounds off the pine, and senior guard Liz Bontempo (Granby, Mass.) added 10 points.
