HOLLIS LEADS TRINITY VOLLEYBALL
OVER EASTERN CONNECTICUT
Hartford, Conn.- Freshman outside hitter Lucy Hollis (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) totaled 16 kills and 20 digs to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-2 win over the visiting Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors in volleyball action this evening. Trinity improves to 4-4 with its second straight win, while the Warriors drop to 6-6 with their first loss in the last four matches.
With the match tied 1-1, Trinity jumped ahead, 9-1, in the third game en route to a 30-19 win to go ahead two matches to one. The Warriors rallied to score to score the last six points of the fourth game for a 30-28 win, forcing a deciding fifth game. Trinity scored five unanswered points to go ahead, 11-7, and finally took the deciding game, 15-11, on a thunderous spike by Kisco.
Senior co-captain setter Christine Horton (San Marino, Calif.) had 41 assists, while sophomore Charlotte Grassi (Chevy Chase, Md.) contributed 15 kills and 18 digs for Trinity. Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Leifert (Winsted, Conn.) paced the Warriors with 27 digs and nine kills, while freshman Becky Ciulla (Chelmsford, Mass.) notched 13 kills.
