2001 Men's Soccer Outlook

In 2001, the Bantam men’s soccer squad missed out on a fourth consecutive post-season appearance and winning season by a single game, suffering three 1-0 losses, in addition to posting three ties. Trinity, coached by Ed Mighten (13th season), finished 5-6-3, but saw a stellar freshman class gain valuable experience playing its first grueling NESCAC schedule.

Although the eight seniors did not reach the post-season in their final campaign, the group will be remembered for turning the program into one of the best in the New England region. During their four years, Trinity earned its first NCAA Division III Championship bid, advancing to the second round, and went to two ECAC New England Championship finals. The Bantams also set a new College record with 13 wins in 1999.

Trinity returns 14 letterwinners in 2001, 13 of whom started a game last season, led by first team All-NESCAC striker Morgan Sandell and senior Peter Zoppi, will provide leadership to this year’s young but deep and talented squad.
