Students participating in the
Chamber Ensembles Program explore music from five centuries of chamber music
literature. The types of ensembles vary from
semester to semester. Recent groups have included wind and string ensembles with harpsichord, wind quartets
and quintets, and the Trinity-Wesleyan
brass ensemble. Groups are formed at the beginning of each semester
to rehearse each week; later in the semester, there are opportunities
for performance in a variety of settings, both formal and informal.
Coaches for the ensembles are drawn from a group of distinguished musicians
from the Hartford area, many of
whom are first-chair players in the
Hartford Symphony Orchestra. Participation is by audition, and 0.5 course credit
is earned for Music 105.
